Arghh... think I just heard a snapping sound coming from the back of my shirt. Oh well, it's kind of expected since I've been doing nothing but eating or doing something related to eating recently. There goes my resolution for a healthier diet. So I figured might as well get something out of it by blogging hence the title. After craving for so long, since my friends first recommended it to me in Selangor, I was thrilled that the franchise was brought to Penang. Gurney Plaza to be exact. I know you'd think that I'd be giving this restaurant a good review since I've been bugging lots of people to go dine here with me but sad to say, it was kind of a let down. Maybe it's because I was expecting too much since I was generally receiving good reviews from my fellow classmates on this place or maybe the Chili's in Selangor are of different standard but then again it's a franchise, I think it should taste the same anywhere.
Sorry for the blured picture... it was fine before I transfered it into my lappy
So, back to Chili's at Gurney Plaza. As we took a look at their menu, we as in Nick, Alan and I, we decided that we would share two main course and a drink. A drink? Yes, a drink. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a cheapskate but to spend RM 7 something without tax on an ice lemon tea in a family retaurant is absurd! Well, to be fair, you actually get to refill "selected" drinks if you are not sharing. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of silly rule is that? I mean I get it that it's some kind of marketing strategy but come on! The biggest mistake is to tell your guess what they can or can't do with their food... or drinks! That's rule number one. Rule number two would be, do not stare at the guest as if they are going to sprint off without paying as soon as you look somewhere else! Guess what? They were guilty of that too. Well, on a brighter note, the atmosphere was kind of okay. It has a bar like feel just that it's brighter instead of that usual dark and gloomy.
Love what they did to the tables... crafted tiles
Prices for main course ranges from around RM20 something to RM30 something in general. This, in my opinion is a little bit on top of the roof especially in Penang where good foods are available in cheap and abundance. Well, about the food, it wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. I'm sure that those of you who had been there would agree with me that the side dishes actually tastes better than the main course itself.
Both chicken dishes... and the desserts which were too expensive for our tastebuds
Down to the very last bite...
Dissatisfied customer...
Basically that was my review on the restaurant, feel free to leave any comments if you have anything to add or differ. As for myself, it's time for another round of food hunting...
